The 9th Week of Reading to Kids in the Czech Republic was traditionally held from 1 to 7 June 2019. An inauguration with a lavish cultural programme for children from Pilsen elementary schools was hosted by the Klempírna of the industrial area and creative zone DEPO2015 in Pilsen on 3 June 2019.
The event was hosted by the actor and a witty presenter, Honza Adámek, known by a lot of children from the Czech TV show AZ kvíz junior. The programme of the inauguration was divided into two parts. At first, younger children from Pilsen elementary schools started to arrive at Klempírna at 9:00 a.m. followed by their older schoolmates at 11:00 a.m. During the programmes, Honza invited the writer of children’s books, Marka Míková, also known as the Princess from the Czech fairy tale Jak se budí princezny (The Best Way of Waking Up Princesses) to the stage. At the end of the first programme, a performance of the members of the theatre Damdam took place. The puppeteers, Marka Míková and Hanka Grančicová, created a varied and cheerful atmosphere of the Circus Kus-kus. The winner of the singing reality show Superstar 2018, Tereza Mašková, also participated in the event, where she sang two songs and read entertaining poems written by Miloš Kratochvíl. The second programme was concluded by Pilsen actors and musicians, Dubnička and Lahoda, who performed together with the audience singing along. Finally, the audience, together with the performers, sang a newly created song. Visitors also took part in competitions led by Honza, who asked the young guests tricky quiz questions. Apart from great cultural experiences, more than 350 children received a beautiful new book published by Albatros, Mladá fronta and HOST.
