The 4th Week of Reading to Kids

An opening ceremony of The 4^th Week of Reading to Kids in the Czech Republic was held on 29 May 2014 in the Theatre Šantovka in Olomouc. This Week of Reading to Kids was concluded with a ceremony organised for children from primary schools at the House of Culture ‘Na Rybníčku’ in Opava. Children who participated in the event enjoyed a singing performance by Markéta Konvičková and a stage reading by the LiStOVáNí ensemble. The author of children’s books, Miloš Kratochvíl, and the actor, Lukáš Hejlík, were also present at the event.

Books and magazines from the Albatros and Mladá Fronta publishers were prepared for children at the opening and closing ceremony.

A charitable collection of books was part of the festive events within The 4^th Week of Reading to Kids. The books were then donated to the children’s departments of Czech hospitals. Volunteers will then read the books to the hospitalised children.
